Zagba Boston, President's Message 1On behalf of the new ZAGBA Board, I would like to thank the ZAGBA family for having given us your trust by nominating us to the ZAGBA Board. I wanted to take this opportunity to bring you up to speed on what the new board has been doing, on what is planned and how you can help ZAGBA be exactly what you want it to be.

As you may be aware, the previous board did an outstanding job in terms of raising funds. Because of their efforts and including monies raised by the previous boards and ZAGBA members, ZAGBA currently has approximately $47,000 in a savings account. ZAGBA will be forming a funds/investments committee to manage (including invest) this money. The board will liaison between the finance committee and the larger ZAGBA community. The funds/investment committee is currently comprised of Adi Guzdar and Jamshed Kapadia, along with representation from the board. If any paid ZAGBA member is interested in being on the finance committee, please send an email tozagba@hotmail.com.

The board would like to welcome any member of the community to attend our ZAGBA board meetings. These meetings are typically held on the same day as the ZAGBA children’s class, and run from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Upcoming board meetings are scheduled for: June 13, July 2, August 6, Sept 12, October 17, November 14, December 12, January 9, February 6 and March 13. Please do let us know viazagba@hotmail.com if you plan on attending.

Since meeting locations might change, please contact us a few days before the meeting and we will provide you with the exact location and time.

For our college bound youth, there are a few scholarships that you can apply for. Some of these have their application deadlines coming up soon. So, please apply as soon as possible. You can find more information under the “Resources” section of the ZAGBA website, at http://www.zagba.org/scholarships.htm.

The new ZAGBA board has also made a change to ZAGBA’s privacy policy. Previously, ZAGBA did not publish any photos taken at ZAGBA events on its website out of concerns about privacy. Going forward, ZAGBA members will have to request if they do not want their event related photos published on the ZAGBA website.
Unless a member opts out, all ZAGBA events will be considered public gatherings and photos taken at these events will be published for general access on the ZAGBA website. Any member can opt out of having their photo published by sending an email to zagba@hotmail.com. Please send us an email by June 15, 2010 if you want to opt out.

ZAGBA is what you want it to be.
The board will try its best to make that happen. But we need your help. We need you to participate in the events, we need you to volunteer some of your time, and we need your suggestions. If there is something that you would like to see ZAGBA do, please let us know. Please take the ZAGBA Pulse Survey on the ZAGBA website so that we can get your comments. We will be publishing the results from the survey on the ZAGBA website (all results will be posted anonymously). The board as always is very grateful to those who volunteer their time but do not get due credit. To all the teachers at the children’s classes (Kaizad Patel, Farhad Panthaki, Yezad and Armin Nalladaru, Hufrish Sirohi, and Rashna Karani), and to the members of the extended board (Perinaaz Wadia), we say a big thank you.

Sincerely,
Aspi Engineer
