Extracted brief:
Ana Marie Cox: Well, you are in a pickle, aren’t you! I think you could save a lot of time and just start being scared everyone
— a lonely but safe existence, OR you could not assume that the media has the best judgment when it comes to relevant details.
Also, why aren’t more crazy people Zoroastrians?
Not that I want to imply that there’s anything crazy (relatively speaking!)
about Zoroastrianism, but man does it SOUND scary.
Like, just the name, you know? “Zoroaster” could be the villain in a Ghostbusters sequel or something.
.
Dear Ana Marie Cox:
As a US Citizen and a practising Zoroastrian in North America,
I find your above comment about our prophet Zoroaster totally uncalled for.
While Freedom of Speech is ingrained in the US Constitution
the founding fathers also cautioned that this
FREEDOM BE USED WITH WISDOM.
A philosophy that is encapsulated in the teachings of our prophet Zoroaster.
I believe that:
Freedom is our right to be wrong,
It is not our right to DO wrong.
(A philosophy that I have learned from the spirit of Zoroaster)
There are over a quarter million Zoroastrians across the globe, a tenth of who will be reading this email.
It is still a live and alive religion that is flourishing across the globe in numerous aspects of human endeavor.
Our global communal literacy rate is about 99%.
Even… Rohinton Rivetna – the Founding Trustee and Past President of the
Parliament of World Religions Council, is a Zoroastrian.
Furthermore, we are peace loving people who abide by the mantra embedded in the Zoroastrian Tenets of
GOOD THOUGHTS, GOOD WORDS AND GOOD DEEDS.
Â
Zoroaster said:
“Make others happy and you’ll also be happy”
Ana, I will leave you with this sentiment to meditate and reflect on
and then decide if your defamatory statement about our prophet Zoroaster was justified.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
With Blessings of love and light from
