Veteran actor Dinyar Contractor passed away early morning on June 5. The 79-year-old actor died of old age-related illnesses.
Contractor was seen in many Bollywood movies like ‘Baazigar’, ’36 China Town’, ‘Khiladi’ and ‘Baadshah’. He was also a part of many popular TV shows. He had started his career as a theatre artist and also used to act in Gujarati and Hindi plays mostly.
Contractor was also awarded with a Padma Shri Award by the Government of India in 2019. He was presented the award by President of India, Ramnath Kovind.
He started acting at school and began his professional career in 1966. He started working on television programs with Adi Marzban when Mumbai Doordarshan launched the DD-2 channel in Mumbai with Aao Marvao Meri Saathe, a Gujarati program.
