WESTMINSTER, Calif. — Mobed Fali Kanga, the senior-most priest of the Southern California Parsi Zarathushti community, was honored Sept. 11 for his 77 years of service to the community at the California Zoroastrian Center here.
Kanga, who will be 90 years old at the end of this month, was born in Navsari, and served as a priest in India and Pakistan before migrating to the United States with his wife Soonoo to live with their daughter Dilnavaz’s family in Southern California.
His humility, sense of humor, and service to the community was remembered by fellow priests Zarrir Bhandara and Maneck Bhujwala and other speakers. The event was attended by members of the Parsi and Iranian Zarathushti communities, with Meher Amalsad serving as master of ceremonies.
Kanga said humbly that he only did his duty as a priest.
