IRAN – THE STORY OF EMPERORS AND KINGS
Iftikhar Salahuddin
Iran is a land of ancient history and culture. In the 6th century BCE, the vast Persian Empire stretched from the Aegean Sea to the Indus River. The saga of the Persians begins with the rule of the mighty Emperor Cyrus; it is a story of the tragic Greco-Persian wars and the interminable feuds between the Romans and the Persians, which finally ended with the conquest of Sassanid Persia by the Muslim Arabs.
The presentation traces the rise and fall of Emperors and Kings in the Muslim period of Iran and admires the rich canvas of culture, art and architecture bequeathed by the Safavids to the eternal city Esfahan. It celebrates the poets Firdausi, Rumi, Saadi and Hafiz and their influence on the Persian culture.
