The Fali Chothia Charitable Trust is accepting applications for its 22nd
annual scholarship awards. Scholarships are open to Zoroastrian students in
North America enrolled in four-year or graduate-level programs. Awards are
based on financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activity and
community service. They are given as outright gifts or no- and low-interest
loans.

To demonstrate solidarity and trust between organizations while serving
community causes, the US Chapter of the World Zoroastrian Organisation is
once again joining the Fali Chothia Trust’s Scholarship Program. This
partnership enables the Trust to significantly increase the amount of its
scholarships.

The Fali Chothia Charitable Trust was established in 1988 under the
Zoroastrian Association of Metropolitan Washington, Inc. (ZAMWI). The Trust
provides scholarships to deserving Zoroastrian students enrolled in
universities in North America, regardless of their country of origin.

Vakhshoori Scholarship

Written by admin on June 2, 2011. Posted in Zoroastrian Scholarships

Four years ago the Vakhshoori Foundation created the Vakhshoori Scholarship (formerly Ahura scholarship) with an eye toward fostering the next generation of community leaders. Each spring the Ahura Scholarship is awarded to promising Zoroastrian students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the U.S. and abroad. A vital part of Zoroastrianism is the belief in free will, the idea that each individual shapes her or his own life. By funding young people’s education, the Vakhshoori Foundation helps them acquire the know-how necessary to act on their choices and make their dreams come true.
Application deadline for our 2011-2011 academic fellowships is until July 1, 2011.
Winners will be announced in August. For more information, please go to: http://www.vakhshoori.org/.

Reducing someone with the incredible talent of Mr. Mercury to a ‘faggot’ seems incongruent with the ideals of “good thoughts, good words, good deads”. Being the fundamental tenets of our faith, their manifestation must take precedence over any other Zoroastrian teaching which may seem to conflict with them.
Sodomy and masturbation are seen as impure acts by they guidelines of the Zoroastrian faith, and should be avoided in so far as possible but they are not what defines a person.

Freddie was still a beautiful person who used his talent to accomplish a great deal more than most people do in the interest of uplifting humanity and ultimately serving his community by bringing attention to the exceptional talent Parsis have.

While his talent may not have manifest in manners that were 100% agreeable with religious doctrine, this good they created surely outweighs any damage done. We should be pragmatic and intelligent when it comes to furthering the interests of our people in a complex reality that is not black and white but full of shades of grey.

Are you guys planning a Chaharshanbeh Soori and Noruz Celebration as well? Unfortunately, I just ran across this site today and noticed that I have missed the SADEH festivities. Is there any way I can join some kind of a mailing list for future events? Thank you in advance for your attention.
    Sincerely,
